What is Kleros?
Kleros is an open source online dispute resolution protocol that uses blockchain and crowdsourcing to adjudicate disputes fairly. The development effort for the protocol was coordinated by Coopérative Kleros, a Société Coopérative d'Intérêt Collectif (SCIC) established in France. All of our code research and development are open source and free for anyone to use.
An initial defense of a jury that is biased based on irrelevant information such as the demographics of the parties is that Kleros' cases are "blinded" to that information. When you make a contract (a real-world contract, written in English or other human language) that designates Kleros as an arbiter in the event of a dispute, you include the cryptographic commitment to the contract in the Ethereum smart contract.

Peg as a Judge
First and foremost, PNK holders can risk their tokens in the Kleros court to show their availability as judges. The more they bet, the more chances they have for selection. Judges risk their PNK in court, they have the relevant skills for the random number generator (RNG) choosing the last place based on the size of the stake.
PNK Protects Against Sybil Attacks
PNK is protection against Sybil attacks. In order for the attackers to flood the jury pool, they need to buy enough PNK so that they are selected enough time to be judges for the same case to change the outcome. Using native tokens like PNK offers several key benefits to minimize the risk of attack by 51% compared to using external cryptocurrency like ETH.
PNK Makes Costly Attacks
Imagine someone buys 51% of PNK in an attempt to attack Kleros. Maybe their attacks will be smooth and go unnoticed. However, most likely the public will realize that they are under attack. In this case, Kleros will lose credibility as an arbitration platform and the PNK value will decrease. Then the attacker will take large losses on PNK purchases, representing the high cost of economic attacks.
User Oriented
The user has an interest in holding the PNK token to get a prize when taking part as a judge. They also have the opportunity to vote with their PNK on all proposals related to the Kleros Government and to vote to create an open and impartial platform for all.
